Errol reviews Lee Strobel’s “God’s Outrageous Claims”.

I happened to purchase this book by fluke. It so happened that I wanted to get on to a new book, having been on the last few pages of the previous one I read, a Harlan Coben novel, I was eager to replace it with something else. While browsing through the new releases section in the Christian bookshop OM, I stumbled across this gem of a book. I was a bit apprehensive before buying it but I was pleasantly rewarded for taking the risk.

The book as the name states dwells upon the claims that God makes and how he makes it come through. Lee Strobel was an editor with The Chicago Tribune and true to his profession he investigates into the different claims and with examples from his own life he shows how those claims make sense and how you and I can live in the fulfillment of those claims. He has written a couple of books before of which I have The Case For Christ and my next read will be the Case For The Creator.

There are 13 of these claims in the bible and I found that each one of these had relevance in my life, but four of those had an immense impact on me: 1) There’s Freedom in Forgiving Your Enemies 2) You Gain When You Give Yourself Away 3) You Can Survive The Rat Race Without Becoming A Rat 4) God Has A Cure For Your Secret Loneliness. These chapters are pure gems and I am going to read it again and again, just to feel strengthened.

The book is a mixture of teaching and experiences of the Author and his friends. The example of the little girl who shoplifted had me in tears. The love of God came through to me in a new way once I read that chapter and story. The chapter on serving was probably the best in the book. I was challenged and I felt as though God himself was pointing fingers at areas where I needed improvement and could have done better.

Very few books have impacted me the way this one has and trust me I have read quiet a bit. I have never re read a book till date, but this one I will. Not because of anything, but just to re experience the wonderful truths of God. Do get a copy for yourself and be blessed!
